Rent a wooden boat with a small outboard motor from Bullock Harbour (approx. IR£10 per hour) and enjoy motoring around Killiney Bay and over to Dalkey Island. Dalkey Island has a fine example of a Martello Tower, build about 200 years ago when a Napoleonic invasion was feared. The northern tip of the island has a ruined cannon station.

Magnificent day trip along the cliffs of Bray Head as far as Greystones. Take the DART (electric train) to Bray from Killiney (10 minutes) and take the DART back from Greystones to Killiney at the end of your day.

Joyce's former home now contains a museum dedicated to him. The Martello tower is similar to that on Dalkey Island, also built in the early 19 century as a defensive measure against the threat of Napoleonic invasion.
