Rent a wooden boat with a small outboard motor from Bullock Harbour
(approx. IR£10 per hour) and enjoy motoring around Killiney Bay
and over to Dalkey Island. Dalkey Island has a fine example of
a Martello Tower, build about 200 years ago when a Napoleonic
invasion was feared. The northern tip of the island has a ruined
cannon station.

Joyce's former
home now contains a museum dedicated to him. The Martello tower
is similar to that on Dalkey Island, also built in the early 19
century as a defensive measure against the threat of Napoleonic
invasion.
